   What is New:

August 14th, 2008, - Registration of www.midcat.com.
For the longest time I dreamed of owning my own domain name, and now finally, the dream has come true!! As of today I am the proud owner of my own domain name and hopefully will be able to own it for a long, long, time! I am still not sure what I will do with it, but I am hoping to bring something worth to the vast internet and make this a place where everyone will find something that will bring a smile to their faces!

August 20th. 2008. - Began contruction of main page and design of future pages.
I am currently working to find a RELIABLE & AFFORDABLE web host that will host my site, as it is, currently I have this few pages for free, but the traffic allowed and space are really minimum, barely any images and mostly text will be allowed.

If you know of an affordable web host with minimum down time that is realiable, please let me know! I am always open to suggestions!

August 24th 2008. - Added Hit Counter + Updated "About Me" page.
My second page is up and I am still working on what I want to do with the remaining 3 pages that this service allows me, which in reality doesn't give me much due to the reduced space. I Look forward to finding a host that will give me the space and service that I need in order to offer everyone what I need!!

February 8th 2009.- UPDATE!  (Real Estate on the Web, The Need of Time, January, Goals, Dreams, Tattoo Design, & Numerology??) + Update to the "About Me" page.

Hello everyone!!

Well, it's been AGES since the last time I was here!! I am so sorry that I didn't show up around, but as some of you may know I have been super busy!!

Have you ever noticed that the more time you spend around the internet the more real estate you gain?? No, I'm serious about this!! Think about it! Most places want you to register with them in order to use their content, see their content, or be a part of a community, and once you register with them, you end up with a little piece of real state on the web!!

It seems to me that now a days I have pages everywhere!!:  MySpace, Facebook, Yahoo, Google, Deviant Art, Mediaminer, 43Things, Kiva, CouchSurfing, Twitter, Multiply, etc.

Now, I know that as a good web space owner I am supposed to update my stuff and keep everyone informed of what I am up to, right? WRONG!! It is so hard to keep up with every page on every place that I get dizzy just thinking about it!! This is supposed to be the MAIN, Most important page on the web for me, but I have to confess: I have been bad to you!! All of you who stumble here and read this lines, all of you who know me and come looking for a bit of love from me, all of you!! I don't deserve you!!

I have been so concentrated in doing good here and there that it is keeping this "other good" a bit neglected!! Time always seems to run out before I could even finish half of the things I have planned!! I remember when I was little, I used to think that time went by sooo slooow! I kept saying: "-I'll never be 18!! Why does time have to be so slow??-" And now, Christmas went by, New Years arrived, and we are about to touch Valentine's day!!! What happened?? I can't understand what is happening to time!!  I am still trying to think what to do with the leftover frozen turkey!!  Can you live in two time spaces at once?? I haven't even taken down the little Xmas tree in the kids room!! ARRRGGGHHH!!

So here I am, begging you to please put up with me a bit longer while I sort my time, my head, and my space  (Virtual space -meaning THIS PAGE-, not the "other" social gathering one) on the web and I promise to deliver all the goods!!

(No, don't get any ideas, it's not me, but I DO feel this way sometimes!)

As for updates and exciting things, I will tell you that I have been a very good and productive bee!!  I decided to make a list of things I wanted to do and really commit to do them!!

It's sort of like a "New Year's Resolution" kind of thing, but I don't believe in those (New Year Resolutions), so I don't have a time set for any of my goals, because they are more like Things I  Want to Do, instead of "-I HAVE TO do this by the end of the year!-" Nope, this is a bit more laid back and I have a pretty good community of people who are interested in doing the same things as me, and we look up to others who have done some of those things and read what they have to say, many times they give you excellent advice on how to achieve your goal/dream and it is really interesting to read their stories!!

Anyway, If you are interested in seeing my list of Goals, Dreams, Achievements and how I am doing on each one of them follow the link below:

I am excited because I managed to reach my goal for the month of January, which made me really happy: Design a Tattoo!!

I was a bit scared to do this because a tattoo is something that you have pretty much forever, unless you are willing to experience a lot more pain than when you got it, and have enough money to pay a dermatologist to burn it off with laser! (OUCH!)

The story behind the tattoo is this:

Two people who have 8 years of difference between each other, have been together for 8 years, 8 is the lucky number of one of them, and the number 8 is all over their birthdays and those of their loved ones.

So, it was obvious that they decide to get married on August 8, of 2008 (In other words: 8-8-8!) Now, to further make things fun, if you believe in Numerology, the numbers of the birth date of one of this persons adds to: 26, which simplified: (2+6) equals
8!!!  Crazy huh?!?

-To figure out your Birthday Number, simply add all the numbers in your birth date. For example: Someone born on September 29th, of 1995, will also have the number 8 as their birth number!  September = 09. Day = 29. Year = 24  (1+9+9+5=24). Total = 62 (09+29+24=62). Simplified: 6+2 = 8 -

So anyway, this where the rules:
  • The tattoo has to incorporate three number 8's.
  • It also must include something to symbolize their 3 children.
  • It must be balanced.
  • The design must be simple but reflect harmony.
  • It has to be a design that can be used by either male or female without changing it much.
I began to think "-Hmmm...How do I do this?-" Well, putting it all together was not going to be easy, and it had to be simple but incorporate all the things required, the three 8's and something that represented the 3 children.

I began to brainstorm and did a bunch of drafts every time inspiration hit me, which with my luck, hit me whenever I didn't have either paper or pen at hand!

Eventually one thing was clear: In order to make it balanced, we needed to use Geometry, and that's when it hit me! The best shape to base it upon was the triangle!

Then I tried to incorporate the most important aspect of the tattoo, the three 8's:

Well, it was balanced, but there was something off, and it didn't look like something I could feel proud of or something that I could see tattooed on anyone!

So, I decided to change it a bit more by tweaking with the direction and size of the numbers:

I removed the triangle because by now I no longer needed it to remind me that that was the base shape, and by changing the size and orientation of the numbers it was beginning to look much better! (Notice that you can still tell that the shape IS based on a triangle )

By now, I liked the idea of the 8's in that position, but I didn't like the "style" of 8's I had there, so I went around the web looking for help!

There is tons of font sites out there, with thousands of different letter and number styles to fit all your needs!!  I downloaded the ones I felt would look good, and played with them until I found one that when put together in the way I wanted, it looked perfect!!

Now that I had the perfect base and shape of numbers, I was ready to tackle the next part: Children.

I have family members who currently are trying to conceive, and they always tell me how much they wish that every time they take a pregnancy test it would be positive!

This got me thinking, when we were little, our parents always told us that if we saw a falling star, we could make a wish upon it, and then there is that well known song from Disney, that says:
"When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you"

So I began to think about stars! And what a better way to represent the wish of parents if not stars? Parents wish for healthy babies, that their children will grow up to be good, happy, healthy, productive, hard working people; and having kids means always having a wish for little and big things. So I decided to use stars for the children!

In order to continue to balance the design, and following the already set tradition of triangular base, I decided to invert the base and use it for the stars. It looked good, but I felt that it still needed something...

I played with many ideas, and since we were talking about shooting stars, I began to think of ways to incorporate something similar, taking in consideration that the design needed to be used by either male or female.

So eventually I went back to the basics: Geometry. I found the perfect solution in the perfect shape: The circle! So after adding, taking, sizing, re-sizing, and moving all around, I ended up with something I felt I could be proud of:

Now, I know that you are probably saying "-Wait, THAT'S IT??? my 5 year old could do better than that!!-" Well, yeah, perhaps you are right, but taking into consideration that I have NEVER done this before and that so far I met every single requirement and that I got compliments from everyone around, I think I deserve to feel a bit of pride!

So, go ahead! Flame if you must! But there is nothing else I can do. Besides, the design has already been tattooed to one person and it's awaiting to be done in the other by late this week!

But if you are wondering if both will be getting tattooed the same exact design, well, not exactly. I made small changes, mainly on color and a bit of shade to fit one person, and I was very happy with the end result:

So, now that I am finished, I want to hear your opinions and what you have to say. Do you like it?? Do you hate it? Do you have any ideas about how it could have been done differently?

Please let me know! Send me a note and I promise to reply to all your comments!!

Thank you so much for reading this! I am glad that some of you find it interesting!! As I promised before, I will try to update and enhance this page to make it much better and easier to read. Not only for me, but mainly for you!! Because this page is for all of you who keep up with my rants and care enough to come and visit me here in my corner of the web!!

Well, so long, may your days be long and with plenty of time to achieve your daily goals,
May your dreams be all at your reach, and may inspiration be by your side whenever you need it!!

Hugs to all:

February 12th. 2009 - Of Art and Artists...

Hi again! I can't believe I am here again!! but I guess it's a good thing. At least I am trying to keep up right??

Well, I don't know if you knew, but in case you didn't: I LOVE ART!! I really do!! Specially graphic art!! Anything to do with painting, drawing and creating it really gets my squeaky grinding wheels moving!

August 4th, 2009

Well, Here I am again. Many things have happened since the last time I was here and sadly, most of them are not as good as I hoped they would be.

People got laid off, money is short, and I can't afford school right now.

I am sad about that because I really was looking forward to attend this fall. :(

Looking for a job is not as easy as it used to be; before, Sunday's paper would have at least 10 pages of classifieds for the employment section. Today? 2 & 1/2 pages at the most!!

It really is kind of scary how the economy has changed our lives!!

In the good news, I began writing. Something I wanted to do for a long time! I hope that this little adventure will help me improve my writing skills.

I have been busy reading. I read almost every day, for at least 4-6 hours every day. It is something I really enjoy and I pay attention to how different writers use certain words and I try to learn from there.

A weird thing I did was get a facial piercing.

I know!! So NOT like me!!

I mean, I have nothing against them, but I never pictured myself with a piercing anywhere else but my ears!! I still have mixed feelings about it and I am trying to stick with it, but I don't know how successful I will be.

You may want to ask how I ended up with a piercing in my face, well, here is the story:is

My step-brother in law is a bit out there character, he loves piercings!! Anywhere and everywhere! He has been piercing himself and those around him for years, and finally decided to put those experiences to use by applying to a local tattoo shop. Well, during his apprenticeship period he was supposed to do certain number of piercings on people in order to get a permanent spot in the shop, so here comes the recruiting brigade, calling everyone to see if they needed a piercing. After running out of prospects, his older brother decided to call me and sweeten the honey pot: He called and asked me if I wanted to help ***** get his license ans permanent job, (Of course, when you ask if I want to help someone, you got me there!!). So, I asked him what I needed to do, and he calmly said: -"All you need to do is get yourself pierced!!"-. Well, I was picturing a piercing in my ear, which I didn't mind at all, but when I told him that I needed to find a suitable earring he mentioned that it was not in my ear, so this got my attention right away! -"Where are we talking about?"-

-"Oh, it's a Monroe!, didn't I tell you?, but don't worry!! It will look good on you and I am paying for it"-

Well, apparently no, he forgot to mention that little part, and since I had no idea what a "Monroe" piercing was, I asked him to give me a minute.  I ran to my computer and did a little search on "Monroe Piercings", and this is what I found:

"A Monroe piercing is a lip piercing placed off-center, above the upper lip and is meant to resemble a beauty spot; it is also known as a 'Madonna' or 'Crawford'. The three name variations of the piercing bear their names from famous female icons: Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, and Cindy Crawford. Although it is commonly thought that the name describes the location of the piercing, this is false: a Monroe/Crawford/Madonna is simply a piercing above the lip in any location. A piercing above the lip can be referred to as either of the three names, not just a Monroe."
(Thank you Wikipedia!)

So, after consulting it with hubby, we decided that it was for a good cause, and after all, if I didn't like it, I could take it out.

With this in mind, I decided that I could deal with that, so I said yes.

My lip is at this time a bit swollen, so I can't take a picture yet, but this is an example of what I am going to end up with:

It's not as extreme as some I have seen out there and the best part is that I can take it out if I am not happy with it!!

So there you go, Something New about me!!

Until next time, take care and remember to always smile!!

Hugs:

Me.
